Laurence T. Yang received dual Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science and Physics from Tsinghua University in 1992, and later obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, Canada. From 1999 to 2020, he taught in the Department of Computer Science at St. Francis Xavier University, Canada, where he served as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Tenured Professor, and W.F. James Chair Professor.

In 2010, he was appointed Distinguished Professor at the School of Computer Science, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In 2020, he was appointed Chair Professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology, Hainan University. In 2024, he became Vice President (Academic Affairs) of Zhengzhou University.

His research interests include high-performance computing, embedded systems, pervasive computing, and artificial intelligence, and his academic contributions have received wide international recognition.
